February 17, 2007 in Breckenridge

The skiing was incredible today. Lots of snow 1-2 feet. The snow had plenty of body today. It wasn't like yesterdays Colorado Fluff. We hit the North Bowl and a variety of good powder hits in the morning. The afternoon was Katya's final ski day and it was time to go up high. Imperial Superchair. We took a run in Imperial for a warm up, before heading out to Whale's tail then Magic Carpet, then Tele. It was so sweet, and so deep.

The temps were very comfortable all day. Mostly 20's, teens up high. There was lots of sunshine all day. Just spectacular. The winds were big at the tops of P8 and P7, but almost non-existent everywhere else. It was really strange. The snow should be good up high for a few days. What a terrific storm.

We were focused on larger ideas. Maintaining momentum, a pole swing that aided in moving us down the mountain, rather than across. Minimizing upper body rotation, while increasing an earlier edge angle. The edge wasn't to grip, but rather to tip the ski so that it may build up pressure more gradually throughout the turn.

Katya, thank you for the laughs all around the mountain today.

to your sliding success,
Jon

We took a number of pictures in the photo gallery.

Another cool Oakley Video. Enjoy!
