Ski? Why?

When you stop and think about it, why would anyone bother to learn to ski? After all, it takes an effort to learn, you participate in it when it's cold and snowy, mostly in the mountains where the air is thin, and with long, unwieldy planks attached to your feet by uncomfortable torture chambers for boots!

Why?

And yet there is a wonder that you can experience on snow that is unavailable to you at any other time. Sensations of velocity, momentum, and suspension that are just not available at any other time. We'll explore more of these thoughts in these pages through the next few months, so keep checking in. Let's explore this together.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts and those who comment on your pages. I ski for the "gliss", the glide. Power and finesse. And the friendship of those who share the passion.
